Where the fuck are you?

A hazy kind of cold,

like freezing smoke

chilling everyone with

a pleasant cooling taste.

Going to sleep

to never wake.

And down then.

A single magnolia bloom falls.

Life-shaped spaces

left lifeless.

A stopped carousel.

Arrivals unarrived.

Angry words vibrate

in a father’s pocket.

The last mistrust

despite unbroken vows.

A big fat girl

Almost over the hill, but not.

A big fat girl,

flirting in the sun.

They come from every direction.

From miles around.

Along the well trodden path

To take her,

or just to look.

She’s surrounded.

Approaching with butterflies,

trembling more.

Heartbeats break the silence.

A virgin voyeur waits

to take his shot

at what he thinks he wants.

The wind changes and suddenly –

realization of his unreadiness.

She turns and looks,

as if to say

“Come and get me”.

He turns and runs,

the other way

“Not today”.

Regret and relief swirl together

As someone else steps up to tame her.

Where your heart lands

If you are lucky,

you will be

where your heart lands.

You will find yourself

pulled there anyway

and it is your choice

to stay or go.

Stay where you are

and wonder what could have been,

Or

Go to them, to it, to there,

and know.

Don’t think about it

one way or the other.

Stay or go,

and live with or without

your dream.

But remember:

You have to live

with the choices you make

or the choices you don’t.

And just before you die,

how will you feel?

Regret that you never knew,

or happy that you did.

There’s nobody forcing you.

There’s no grand plan.

Leave your repose.

Go where your heart lands.
